About the project
I had the pleasure of recording the first EP from NYSTALGI. It’s still in process of mixing, which I also have the responsibility to do.
NYSTALGI is a Aarhus-based folk-jazz quartet. NYSTALGI aims to give the audience a strong sense of togetherness and a space to share these emotions, which I aimed to tell through the recording. By setting each instrument in separate isolated rooms, I could then place the players in the same room, allowing them to have the sense of connection, while recording their songs.
We recorded, unlike my project with Sandløber, with click. This resulted in a much easier way to dub small bits from the best takes, and therefore get the best performance. Though using the dubbing technique, we still aimed to preserve the feeling of playing together.
